Marina Granovskaia might remain with Chelsea after Roman Abramovich's exit
Marina Granovskaia may yet remain in her role at Chelsea even after Roman Abramovich completes the sale of the club, The Telegraph reports.
The Chelsea director who is effectively in charge of the football side of the business has been working with the club owner since 1997, dating back to their days at Russian oil company Sibneft.
Their strong bond is the reason why it has been presumed that she might follow Abramovich out the door.
However, some of the potential buyers recognise that replacing Granovskaia would be a massive task, as she is one of the highest-rated football executives in the world.
Besides, she has established a good connection with Thomas Tuchel and fully backed him after the coach decided to drop Romelu Lukaku after his controversial Sky Italia interview. Her departure would be a blow for Tuchel, as well.
Ultimately, Granovskaia will be the one to decide whether she wants to cut her professional ties with Abramovich.
