Leo Messi named his top 5 best players besides himself and Cristiano in 2020 — where are they now?
Back in 2020, Leo Messi named his top five players in the world, excluding himself and Cristiano Ronaldo. They were Kylian Mbappe, Neymar, Eden Hazard, Luis Suarez and Sergio Aguero.
Two years later, here's how those players are doing.
1. Kylian Mbappe
The Frenchman continues improving and is currently the main man at Paris Saint-Germain despite Messi also being there. This season, he's already recorded 25 goals and 17 assists in 35 matches.
Mbappe's contract at PSG expires at the end of the season and he is expected to move to Real Madrid.
2. Neymar
Another teammate of Messi's, Neymar hasn't been doing too well since 2020. The Brazilian has been struggling with injuries ever since moving to France. Over the last two years, Neymar has played just 50 matches, scoring 21 goals.
3. Eden Hazard
Hazard's career in Spain has been a complete failure, at least on the personal level. The Belgian is currently a benchwarmer at Real Madrid, having started in nine games this season (22 played in total) and contributing with just one goal and two assists.
4. Luis Suarez
El Pistolero is no longer an undisputed starter at Atletico Madrid, but that is okay considering that he is already 35 years old. This season, he's recorded 11 goals and five assists in 35 matches.
With a contract expiring this summer, it's unclear what the future holds for him.
5. Sergio Aguero
The Argentine joined Barcelona last summer as a free agent. Unfortunately, we didn't get to enjoy Aguero to the fullest.
Sergio picked an injury early on, returned in October where he played five games and scored a goal. Then, a heart issue forced him to take a long pause before officially retiring in winter.
