'It will be between Real Madrid and City': journalist close to Haaland
"I'm saying that at the moment it is down to two clubs for Erling Haaland and that is Real Madrid and Manchester City," Norwegian journalist Jan Aage Fjortoft, who is said to be close to the Borussia Dortmund striker, has told ESPN FC.
"I have a feeling that Real Madrid will be ahead of Barcelona. What I do know is that it is very down to details now, they are going through everything. At the end Erling has to make a decision. It is hard to turn down Real Madrid.
"Another factor is that his dad played for Man City, he had City shirts. The rain in Manchester would play no role. He also has a house in Spain, but no role either. It’s down to details, down to gut feelings.
"I think Haaland will have played in both counties (England and Spain) when you will look back at his career."
Haaland is expected to leave Dortmund next summer and Real Madrid want to sign him alongside Kylian Mbappe, although the latter is seen as the priority.
This term so far, the 21-year-old has recorded 23 goals and six assists in 20 games for BVB. He's been struggling with injuries recently.
