Mundo Deportivo, a Catalan source, reports that Cesar Azpilicueta is close to a move to Barcelona.

The captain can sign a pre-contract agreement with the Catalans now to join them on free transfer in the summer.

However, the Spaniard knows that the club have an option to extend his contract by a further year.

So Azpilicueta is ready to accept this one-year extension so that Barcelona would have to pay Chelsea to sign him.

He does not want to upset Chelsea and force his way out of the club.
