Conor McGregor & Atalanta co-owner make Chelsea bids
Two new parties interested in buying Chelsea have emerged, as per a Sky report.
Remember MMA star Conor McGregor expressing interest in taking over the club back in February? At that time, it was clear that he would need to team up with someone to be able to make a bid as he doesn't have enough money to buy the club alone.
Now it looks like the Irishman has done exactly that. He's joined forces with Empowerment IP, described as a 'rights monetisation' company.
They have launched a £3.1bn proposal to Raine Group. One of their key promises is giving fans a 25% share in the club.
Another bidder is Stephen Pagliuca, an American businessman who co-owns NBA team Boston Celtics and Serie A club Atalanta.
In case Raine Group do not shortlist them, they consider joining another consortium.
It is stated that Pagliuca submitted his bid before the deadline while it is not clear if McGregor and Empowerment were on time.
It was previously revealed that around 30 bids had been made. Not all bidders are known so expect some more to emerge in the future.
Raine Group were initially expected to announce a three-name shortlist on Monday but they have delayed the decision due to the amount of information they have to process.
