Chelsea can still be sold despite sanctions on Abramovich

Chelsea can still be sold in the coming days despite the UK Government freezing the assets of Roman Abramovich, according to the Telegraph.

For a sale to happen, Abramovich would have to relinquish the selling the club completely to the UK Government.

If that happens, Abramovich will have no say on who buys the club, or what happens to any funds realized from the sale.

Interested buyers are still keen on taking the club from the under-fire Oligarch.

The UK Government could sell Chelsea for about £2 billion. The problem is, their valuation could be less than what Roman wanted to sell the club for.

However, a sale will lift restrictions on Chelsea, like sale of merchandise, contract talks and player transfers.
