Anthony Martial breaks silence on alleged rift with Ronaldo
Speaking to Spanish outlet AS about his reported rift with Cristiano Ronaldo, Anthony Martial explained: "Cristiano is a top professional, one of the best in history.
"We all love him, there are things that are said in the media that are not true. I was in that dressing room and I know what happens."
In another interview with The Guardian, Martial was then asked about his departure from Manchester United on loan to Sevilla and the Frenchman said: "When he [Ralf Rangnick] arrived, my objective was to leave.
"He said that if you want to stay, with the way you are training if you continue to train like that, you will play. But my objective was that I wanted to leave, to have a new atmosphere, a new club.
"I had a lot of options but I talked to the manager [Julen Lopetegui] and with Monchi and I said Sevilla was the best option to play and enjoy football again because I lost it a little bit in Manchester."
On his future, Martial added: "I asked United to leave because I wanted to play but I still have a contract.
"They know what I want, so we will see at the end of the season. I’m here just for the end of the season and that’s it."
Interestingly, Martial and Rangnick shared two different versions of why the forward was dropped for the 2-2 draw with Aston Villa. It was shortly after that Martial left for Sevilla.
So far, the 26-year-old has scored once in the Europa League and provided one assist in La Liga.
