Angel di Maria hints at retirement after World Cup 2022
"I'm just going to say thank you for the enormous love received," wrote Angel di Maria on his social media in a message to the Argentina fans.
"I always dreamed of everything I experienced on this beautiful night.
"It was probably my last match with this shirt in Argentina. And being able to say that it was a wonderful night is an understatement.
"Thank you, thank you and a thousand times thank you."
Di Maria scored a goal as Argentina comfortably beat Venezuela 3-0 after already qualifying for the World Cup 2022.
Since the tournament will be held in Qatar, it is possible that this was Di Maria's final game wearing his country's shirt in Argentina.
Lionel Messi, who also scored against Venezuela, shared a similar message hinting at retirement after this year's World Cup.
