Poland and Sweden refuse to play Russia in World Cup qualifiers
After the Polish FA announced their decision to not play Russia in the World Cup qualifiers, the Swedish FA has also shared a similar statement.
Both countries have condemned the Russian military's attack on Ukraine, which was given the green light by Vladimir Putin about 36 hours ago.
A bloody battles has ensued in Ukraine since then, with fresh reports claiming over thousands of civilians have been injured. About 130 people have died, which also includes three children.
The Swedish FA's chairman said: "The illegal and deeply unjust invasion of Ukraine currently makes all football exchanges with Russia impossible.
"We therefore urge FIFA to decide that the playoff matches in March in which Russia participates will be canceled. But regardless of what FIFA chooses to do, we will not play against Russia in March."
