Luke Shaw: 'Man United can win Champions League this season'
Manchester United have not had the best season so far. Despite replacing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer with Ralf Rangnick, familiar problems returned to haunt them in the recent 1-1 draw with Burnley.
Luke Shaw acknowledged the troubles but made a serious claim in his latest interview.
He told talkSPORT: "The season so far, in general, is, of course, not good enough.
"I think where we want to be and where we are now are two completely different places.
"Obviously, we’re very devastated about getting knocked out of the FA Cup. It was, obviously, a competition that we felt that we could win.
"And, of course, we’re not in a position in the league that we want to be in – we don’t deserve to be with the results we’ve had."
The English defender continued: "With how things are going, with the ups and downs, it’s not good enough for a team that wants to win the title.
"You look at the top teams and their consistency, they’re at a high level and are consistently winning matches – we haven’t been doing that.
"But it’s something we’ve looked at and it’s something we need to improve on.
"Of course, we’re still in the Champions League, a lot of people will doubt us, but we have to have that belief that we can go and win it because it’s important to have that inside the dressing room and to have something to fight for."
