Lukaku trends on Twitter after shocking Palace performance
Romelu Lukaku set an unwanted Premier League record in Chelsea's narrow 1-0 win against Crystal Palace. The striker had only seven touches of the ball across the 90 minutes, the lowest ever recorded in the Premier League for any outfield player.
Fans were not happy with the Belgian's performance in the game and he has been trending on Twitter ever since.
Here's what supporters have to say about the underperforming Lukaku:
CFCMod_: "Where do we all stand with Romelu Lukaku? For me the most underwhelming signing we’ve made so far, all things considered."
_CFCRoy: "Poorly scouted player who shouldn’t be starting for us. Doesn’t move enough and lacks the technical ability to play under pressure. Havertz should be starting upfront from now on but he probably won’t"
Toulismyname: "As much as we criticise him I still think we don't create enough for him because lets be honest if you create chances for Lukaku he will score no doubt so as much as we say he needs to move more and get involved our players also have to create for him and look out for his runs"
_Evason_: "I honestly feel Lukaku should stop starting for us,I know this might sound absurd because he is our number 9 but look at the team and look at the man play, he plays without any drive or passion, I know he does some good touches once in a while but we paid almost £100m!!"
tsindianarap: "Should never have been bought. His play at Inter was transition or tap ins, we are shit at transition and midfield and wingers don't create enough for a striker like him. The fault is 60-40 with both the player and the club."
CFCSheikh: "We loaned out Armando Broja to Southampton and then spent £100m on Romelu Lukaku only for him to have less goals in the Premier League. It's a Chelsea thing."
Lukaku has not yet hit the 10-goal mark in the Premier League and continues to underwhelm for Chelsea.
You get the feeling that if this sort of form continues until the end of the season, Chelsea might think of cutting their losses and selling the striker.
