Italy issues arrest warrant for Robinho after rape sentence
Earlier this week, Italian prosecutors issued a global arrest warrant for former Brazil international Robinho.
Back in January 2021, the ex-Manchester City and AC Milan was sentenced to 9 years in prison for rape by an Italian court.
The Court of Cassation in Rome had upheld the sentences, rejecting an appeal from the Robinho relating to the the incident that allegedly occurred in 2013.
The 38-year-old is currently in his home country and Brazilian constitution prevents the extradition of its citizens even if they are found to be criminals.
Jacopo Gnocchi, the lawyer for the victim, told AFP: "The main thing is he serves it, particularly for the crime committed, to protect women."
