Have Liverpool surpassed United in total trophies count after Carabao Cup win?
Liverpool defeated Chelsea in a penalty shootout to win the 2021/22 Carabao Cup title.
It was the first domestic cup competition they have won under Jurgen Klopp in his 7 years in charge.
With the title win, there have been quite a few LFC fans on social media boasting themselves about being the ‘most decorated team in England’.
In actuality, they have won 66 major trophies in their history – tying Man United’s record of 66 titles.
Now the debate among LFC fans is that community shield titles shouldn’t be counted, as United have won that 21 times as compared to their 16 wins.
If one was to keep the community shield wins out, then LFC would have 49 trophies as compared to United’s 45.
But the community shield is, of course, relevant enough to be considered in a team’s total major trophies count.
So, for the time being, United and Liverpool have the same amount of trophies in their history – but it’ll take the Red Devils some doing to regain their formerly lost lead this season.
