Dynamo Kiev and Shakhtar’s Brazilian players ask for help to leave Ukraine with their families
In a video posted on social media by Shakhtar Donetsk forward Junior Moraes with his family and fellow Shakhtar and Dynamo Kiev players, the Brazilian said: “The situation is one of despair. I ask you to disclose this video so that it reaches the [Brazilian] government.
“Borders are closed, banks [are shut], there is no fuel, there will be a shortage of food, there is no money. We are gathered waiting for a plan to leave Ukraine.”
He also wrote on Instagram: “All friends and family, the situation is serious and we are stuck in Kiev waiting for a solution to get out. We are inside a hotel. Pray for us.”
There are currently 12 Brazilian players in the Shakhtar squad, including former Ajax star David Neres who joined the club only a month ago. Dynamo Kyiv also has one Brazilian player in Vitinho.
Ukraine is in the midst of a ‘full-scale invasion’ from Russia, with over 100 Ukranian soldiers being killed in attacks on the country.
