Cristiano Ronaldo fighting to prevent sexual assault case documents from being made public
Cristiano Ronaldo is trying to prevent that police case files regarding a sexual assault case against him is not made public,, claims the Mirror.
The Man United forward was accused by US citizen Kathryn Mayorga of raping her in Las Vegas in 2009.
The allegation was revealed in 2018 when German newspaper Der Spiegel made an investigation into it after being promoted by a Football Leaks website.
Ronaldo doesn’t want the case documents or evidence to be made public to the New York Times newspaper.
His legal team are arguing that the documents were obtained illegally by Football Leaks and were a breach of attorney-client privilege.
The legal battle between Ronaldo and Ms. Mayorga’s lawyers over the documents being made public will continue in a court hearing next week.
If Cristiano’s lawyers aren’t able to prove their case, the documents regarding his sexual assault case could be made public.
Last year, the sexual assault case was dismissed by a Las Vegas judge, putting an end to a lengthy legal battle.
