Captain Salah gives top speech in Egypt dressing room after final loss
Mohamed Salah's campaign to bring the African Cup of Nations title to his country ended in heartbreak as Egypt lost 4-2 in a penalty shootout against Senegal yesterday.
Salah was in tears after the game and was understandably dejected as Sadio Mane consoled his distraught teammate.
However, Salah is not one to stay down for long. In the aftermath of the final when the Egypt team were in the dressing room, Salah gave a top speech to his heartbroken troops:
Salah's speech was in Arabic, but here's the translated version, via Egyptian Liverpool fan @KTG_LFC: "We played four matches all 120 minutes in about 12 days, but it’s in the past now, we have the games against them next month and inshallah [if God wills it] we will take revenge on them."
Salah is referring to Egypt's two-legged tie against Senegal, scheduled for March 23 and 29. The winner of this tie will advance to the World Cup - the loser will have to stay at home for the tournament.
It's admirable that Salah was able to give a great send-off message to his team; the forward has the heart of a lion!
