Stamford Bridge is a professional football stadium that is host to Chelsea football club of England. By and large, it is one of the most significant soccer facilities worldwide.

Moreover,, having been home to Chelsea which has been dubbed as one of the most successful clubs in the history of English Football Stamford Bridge was once the biggest stadium in Britain, during the first quarter of the twentieth century.

About The Bridge
Stamford Bridge became home to Chelsea in 1905 though Fulham also enjoyed the stadium. As one of the oldest football stadiums in the world one might be tempted to think that it has been used by many other English football teams but here the case is the reverse.

The only football club recorded to have adopted the stadium as their home base is Fulham and this all began in 1877. Despite being way behind English big boys: Chelsea in terms of won trophies Fulham was a formidable football club with class and prestige.

After Chelsea was founded in 1905 a need to reach a tangible agreement between the two English Premier League clubs became pertinent. This was necessarily so given the reluctance of Fulham to hand over Stamford Bridge to Chelsea without a tussle.

However, with the establishment of London Athletic Chelsea took the opportunity to buy over the stadium. Do note that London Athletic was the new stadium acquired by Fulham after they handed over Stamford Bridge to Chelsea.

Hence in 1905 the stadium officially and legally became the football centre of the English Premier League club: Chelsea.

Additionally, there are various memorable football events hosted by Stamford bridge and it includes the English Cup final on various occasions.

Capacity and Trophies
Being home to one of England's most successful football clubs Stamford Bridge was built with a considerable capacity to accommodate many soccer enthusiasts. Moreover, this prestigious soccer stadium was under construction for a long period thus the project was particularly complex.

The capacity of the Chelsea football stadium do vary but is pegged at 41,841 seats for the same number of match attendees. This makes Stamford Bridge a proud member of the top 10 English football stadiums.

However, as at that time the English Premier League was not as popular as it is today. Also, the largest and record attendance in Stamford Bridge was during Arsenal and Chelsea games in the 1930s.

A total of 82,905 attended the match; this includes game spectators. As the years passed by, the Premier League became more popular and match attendance also increased accordingly.

Despite not making full adjustments on the stadium due to demand caused by the reason being that EPL is the second most-watched league in the continent Chelsea did some modifications to the size and capacity of Stamford Bridge.

This action was done in order for the sports facility to accommodate more people during match days.

Meanwhile, in terms of trophies, Stamford Bridge is believed to have accommodated one of Europe's largest trophies. The popular football stadium was also the playing ground of Chelsea's many legends and talents including John Terry, Frank Lampard, Didier Drogba, Eden Hazard, Ashley Cole, Gianfranco Zola, Solomon Kalou, and Mikel Obi.

Even so, Stamford Bridge has accommodated many trophies including several awards. This so due to the fact that Chelsea FC remains one of the football clubs in the United Kingdom known for its trophy-winning legacies.

Two of the memorable trophies won by Chelsea are the 2012 Champions League where Didier Drogba scored the decisive last-kick penalty and the 2016/17 Premier League.

However, Chelsea has won many major trophies since its inception and they include two Champions League, two European leagues, and two Super Cup.
