Cristiano Ronaldo's goalscoring stats broken down in 2021/22
Cristiano Ronaldo has scored 14 times across competitions this term but his stats don't make for impressive reading.
Here's a breakdown of the goals he's scored in 2021/22:
Premier League: 8 goals, 3 assists in 16 games.
Champions League: 6 goals in 5 games.
With half the season almost done, it hardly compares to the numbers he hit for Juventus.
The 36-year-old scored 38 goals across competitions for Juventus in 2020/21. He also hit 39 goals for the Serie A giants the season before.
That's not all - most of his goals in the Premier League have come against sides outside the big six.
Although we've played Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool, Tottenham and Manchester City so far, Ronaldo has only scored one goal against Spurs and twice against the Gunners.
Manchester United fans are not pleased with the impact on our overall performances and some rightly pointed out that Ronaldo's just scoring the goals someone else did last season.
💬 Mainoldo via RedCafe: "He’s [Ronaldo] just scoring the goal someone else was last year. This point needs to stop.
"It wasn’t so long ago we said the same about Bruno. So, now we have Ronaldo’s goals and Bruno’s goals. Shock horror - it’s not going to be 20 goals for Ronaldo and 20 goals for Bruno.
"The same problem last season was we cannot carry footballers at this level we are currently at and trying to reach."
💬 captaincantona via RedCafe: "He is clearly the focal point of our attacks and this is to the detriment of the potency of our forward line as a whole. He hasn’t added 17 goal involvements.
"We have scored less with him in the team. At the very least you have to imagine that an alternative forward line with a less concentrated focus on supplying one player could also be effective. I for one would like to see it."
💬 Glorio via RedCafe: "It's a difficult one to prove but my suspicion is that without Ronaldo, the entire forward line may have performed better.
"Considering every single one of the rest is better in build-up play than him (including Rashford who at least can carry the ball up field and keeps the opposition honest)."
