Arsenal request postponement of Tottenham derby
Arsenal have confirmed that they have made an application to have Sunday's Premier League match against Tottenham postponed.
"We have reluctantly taken this step but we have many players currently unavailable across our squad as a result of Covid, injuries and players away with their countries at AFCON," the club statement reads.
In their reply, the Premier League stated that the decision will be made during the board meeting on Saturday.
As per The Athletic, Arsenal were left with just 12 fit outfield players after injuries to Cedric Soares and Bukayo Saka during the Carabao Cup game against Liverpool on Thursday.
As per the league's regulations, a team must have fewer than 14 players — 13 outfields and a goalkeeper — for their game to be postponed.
