UEFA president speaks on error during Champions League last 16 draws
"We got the information that something was wrong with the software, I had a meeting with them over the phone, the software providers and they proposed to redo the draw and that it was not known when the error had occurred," UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin said in a telematic conference.
"We decided to be transparent and say so to learn for the future. It is too early to know the possible consequences.
"We cannot be so dependent on technology. It was not a human error, it was a mistake by UEFA, we apologize to everyone."
There was an error during the draws for the Champions League round of 16 draws leading to the draw being redone.
Initially, Real Madrid were paired against Benfica, but the second draw saw Los Blancos put against a more difficult opponent in PSG.
