Real Madrid 'willing' to make Rudiger the joint-highest paid defender in football

Real Madrid are overwhelming favorites to sign Antonio Rudiger on a free transfer if he leaves Chelsea next summer, claims The Guardian.

The German defender has held talks with the La Liga giants, who are ‘willing’ to meet his financial demands.

As per the Sun, Rudiger ‘expects to match’ the salary of Juventus centre-back Matthijs de Ligt - currently the highest-paid defender in football – to join Madrid for free.

Los Blancos are reportedly ready to offer him weekly wages of £400,000 to get the deal over the line next year.

Chelsea are trying their best to tie down Rudiger on a new contract but aren’t willing to meet such huge salary demands.
