Premier League clubs 'fearful' of another COVID shutdown after positive cases spike
As per the Daily Mail, Premier League clubs are 'fearful' that football is going to come to a halt due to the spread of COVID across the league.
The League announced 42 positive tests for Covid on Monday night. This was the most ever in a single week since testing began for the clubs.
A Spurs game was already called off earlier with the Manchester United game tonight also being delayed due to positive cases within their camp.
The vaccination process for the booster shot is a little slow and that has amped up the clubs' concerns as the two shots before have shown little immunity to the new Omicron variant.
Clubs are now also preparing to go back to 'Project Lockdown' mode with more vigorous testing and safety measures.
Nothing has been confirmed yet regarding the league shutting down. However, the UK government is taking the Omicron threat seriously and should cases within the clubs continue to rise, we can expect more delays of games.
