Newcastle are desperately trying to bolster their defence in their bid to survive in the Premier League, as per the latest update from Fabrizio Romano.
The Magpies are looking to sign at least one centre-back, with Lille's Sven Botman emerging as the prime target.
The Saudi-backed Premier League club also want to get a new right-back, but the work is yet in progress to identify the most suitable option.
In theory, Newcastle will be able to spend as much as ₤200 million in January, but the early signs are that the new ownership will not rush things in terms of spending.
