Nat Phillips 'discussed' by Newcastle as potential January signing

Nat Phillips is one of the names discussed within Newcastle as a potential January signing, according to The Telegraph.

The club's new Saudi owners aim to 'move quickly' for prospective targets as the threat of relegation is very real. The Magpies are bottom of the table with seven points and are yet to win a game.

They are also confident that, despite previous rumours, the other Premier League clubs would be prepared to deal with them as with any other club.

Phillips is just one of the names mentioned in the report, alongside Man United's Jesse Lingard, Chelsea's Ross Barkley, Burnley's James Tarkowski, Atletico Madrid’s Kieran Trippier and Tottenham’s Harry Winks.

The 'Bolton Baresi' was a key player in Liverpool's push to qualify for the Champions League last season but with all key centre-backs returning from injuries, he's been sidelined.

This season, he's yet to feature in the Premier League, having made one appearance in the League Cup and one short cameo in the Champions League.
