Matip considering return to international football - no decision made on AFCON yet
Joel Matip has been retired from international football for some time now due to disputes with the Cameroon Football Association.
However, as per African Insider, the centre-back is now considering returning to the national level after former footballer Samuel Eto’o was elected president of the FA.
The African Cup of Nations (AFCON) begins in January and Cameroon are taking part in the tournament.
At the moment, it is unclear whether the Liverpool centre-back will declare himself available for the tournament.
Liverpool will be hoping that if he decides to re-join his nation's football team, it happen after the tournament as losing a senior centre-back for 3-5 games isn't ideal.
