John Terry officially announces return to Chelsea in consultancy role
Chelsea officially announced that they will welcome back John Terry - he is returning to Cobham to begin a coaching consultancy role at the Chelsea Academy.
The club legend will work with the young players and coaching staff in the youth development programme.
Terry had a brief stint as the assistant coach of Aston Villa prior to this and has over 15 years of experience as a professional at the top level.
The former centre-back sent out a message to the fans about his return: "I’m delighted to announce that I’m coming home, and have taken up a consultancy role with Chelsea academy. As well as delivering on field coaching sessions I will be involved in coaching discussions and mentoring our academy players."
Head of youth development Neil Bath said of the appointment to Chelseafc.com: "We are delighted to be welcoming John back to Cobham in a role that will involve coaching and mentoring the next generation of young players in our Academy.
"It goes without saying that John’s experience in the game, both as a world-class player and more recently as an assistant coach in the Premier League, will be invaluable for everyone in the building.
"He will be a great mentor for our players and a fantastic asset to our coaching staff. We can’t wait for him to get started."
Every youngster at the club will surely be delighted to see the legend back - his experience is invaluable and him being a club icon only helps!
