FIFA to block South American teams from Nations League after being 'blind-sided' by UEFA

According to the Daily Mail, FIFA is set to block 10 South American teams from participating in the UEFA Nations League as reported last week.

211 national federations will take part in a virtual conference held by FIFA following the announcement that the new teams will join a 'rebooted' Nations League in 2024.

The report claims FIFA feel 'blind-sided' and are willing to 'withdraw their sanction for the Nations League, which would render it no more than a friendly tournament'.

Some reports have also claimed that this is a joint effort between the UEFA and CONMEBOL to oppose FIFA's proposed biennial World Cup proposal.
