Explained: Dani Alves won't play against Mallorca due to La Liga regulations

Many expected Dani Alves to make his second official debut for Barcelona on January 2 against Mallorca. However, this will not be possible, Mundo Deportivo explain.

As per La Liga regulations, the registration period for the winter transfer market starts on January 3.

As a reminder, Dani signed for Barca over a month ago and has only played in the friendly against Boca Juniors.

Most likely, Dani's second debut for Blaugrana will come on January 5 against Linares in the Copa del Rey.

Barca are also said to be close to signing Ferran Torres. If the transfer will be completed in the coming days, he too will be unable to be registered before January 3. The same is true for Gavi and Nico Gonzalez, who could be officially promoted to the first team.
