8 covid cases detected between Barcelona and Mallorca, La Liga remain adamant

Barcelona are currently struggling with injuries, a situation that has been compounded with 4 players contracting Covid-19.

Dani Alves, Clement Lenglet, Jordi Alba and Alex Balde have tested positive for the virus.

Over in the camp of Mallorca, Barca's first opponent of 2022, they're also badly hit by covid, with 4 players and 3 staff testing positive.

A statement by the club reads: "The PCR tests carried out yesterday and during the holiday period have detected four positives among the first team squad and three among the members of the technical staff.

"All of them are well, isolated in their homes and following the medical indications of the health authorities.”

Still, La Liga have remained adamant regarding postponing games over covid. The league's governing body insists games must go on as scheduled.
