Xavi thanks Dembele for playing against Benfica despite being at risk of injury

"I have already spoken to Ousmane Dembele. He is happy here, and we appreciate that he played today without being 100% ready, he risked it. Someone else would've sat on the bench but he wanted to play," Xavi told reporters after the Benfica game.

"He is happy here and we are optimistic about his extension as he is a fundamental piece of the team."

Dembele was subbed on in the second half against Benfica and put a great performance, although Barcelona did not end up scoring. He had received the medical clearance a few hours before the game.
