Reporter asks for message to fans if Barca lose to Benfica, Xavi provides brilliant response
In the press conference ahead of the Benfica clash, Xavi was asked what his message to the fans would be if Barcelona went on to lose the game.
"There will be another press conference tomorrow, we will talk if it happens. I prefer not to think about the negative outcome, I do not consider it," the coach responded rather angrily.
"If I speak of a message in case of defeat, I am transmitting what I do not think. For now, let me dream and think about winning.
"We lost to Bayern Munich and Benfica, the two remaining rivals. The scenario is easy, you have to win one of the two games.
"I prefer to think positively and to win tomorrow, otherwise, you can ask me tomorrow and we will analyze it. But before playing, I prefer to think about the victory."
Xavi was also asked whether he would settle for a 1-0 win against the Portuguese.
"Man, of course, we are not here to give anything away. I prefer to win well and with a bigger margin, but the objective is to win. But I want to do it by playing well. Anything that is a win will be welcome, but how [you win] is also important."
Barca currently sit second in their Champions League group. A win against Benfica tomorrow would mean securing a spot in the round of 16.
