Mendy: Kante Predicted UCL Glory
Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy has revealed that Fellow teammate N'Golo Kante predicted they would win the Champions League at the beginning of last season.
Mendy recalled a conversation he had with Kante ahead of the first game of last season's successful campaign.
He said, “I think I have the best anecdote of the season.
(The day of the first match of the 20-21 campaign, against Sevilla, 0-0, at Stamford Bridge) We are on the bus with N'Golo (Kanté), Kurt (Zouma) and Olivier (Giroud).
"N'Golo, he is confident, he says 'guys I think this year we are going to win the Champions League'. He said to me 'yeah, I don't know, I have a hunch'.
"First day eh. I tell him 'wait and see tonight, how it will go'. And there you have Sevilla, honestly, it was the toughest match we had in the group stage.
They came to us, they put us in a sick pressing, they had possession of the ball 70% of the time.
"N'Golo I think he ran 13 kilometres ... At the end of the match, I asked him the question again..."
