Aruna Quadri Inks Place In World Table Tennis History Books
Aruna Quadri became the first Nigerian and player from the Africa continent to feature in the last eight at the World Table Tennis Championship after he defeated Kristian Karlsson from Sweden 4-3 (11-9, 5-11, 13-11, 5-11, 6-11, 11-8, 11-6) at the World Table Tennis Finals in Houston, Texas, USA.
“It’s amazing. I had to dig deep and I gave everything I had. I’m excited about the quarter-final. I’ve been playing very well and the spirit of never giving up is always there,” said Aruna after the historic feat.
He also said the achievement means a lot to him and he will continue break barriers to put Nigeria and Africa on the world map.
“It means a lot to me, especially the whole of Africa, Nigeria and my fans all over the world. I’m very happy.”
“I always wanted to do very well. From the beginning, I want to give my heart and soul. That’s what I have been doing. Although I never knew I would get to the quarterfinals but it’s not down to luck but the spirit of never giving up.” A delighted Quadri wrapped up. November 27, 2021 at 11:46AM
