Alba explains why he thinks Koeman's sacking wasn't 'too late'

"Was Ronald Koeman's sacking too late? No. Koeman did a good job. We won a cup when nobody imagined it. Each coach has his style. I am very grateful to Koeman," Jordi Alba said during the press conference ahead of the Benfica clash.

"Now I am very happy with Xavi. Personally, I think he was the ideal coach. He will help us a lot.

"I've only known Xavi as a coach from this week, but he has always lived football with great intensity. He has put a lot of emphasis on motivating players, especially those who weren't playing before.

"He wants to listen to us all, is It is important that we all get hooked and believe in ourselves again. This is the line to follow. The ideas that the coach is implementing are very good."

Koeman left Barcelona 9th in La Liga and with just three points after three games in the Champions League. The upcoming game against Benfica will be crucial for the Catalans' season.
