Tebas: Real Madrid's financial management has been excellent for 10 years
Javier Tebas has piled praise onto Real Madrid for the club's financial management in recent seasons.
Los Blancos have been assigned the highest salary limit in LaLiga Santander by LaLiga, which is in no small part down to how they have tightened their pursestrings when needed.
"Real Madrid are top due to their excellent management of the pandemic," Tebas told Radio MARCA. "They have been excellent at financial managing for the last 10 years."
Despite losing Lionel Messi over the summer and having seen Cristiano Ronaldo leave three years earlier, Tebas is still positive about the competition he oversees.
"We cannot obsess with having players like [Kylian] Mbappe or [Erling] Haaland," Tebas explained.
"The Premier League went more than 10 years without a Ballon d'Or [winner] and those were the years in which it grew the most. The players will come, but they're not essential for LaLiga Santander to grow or improve."
Tebas continued to play down talks of crisis after Real Madrid's loss to Sheriff in the Champions League, and believes that Los Blancos and Barcelona will both still compete with Atletico Madrid for the domestic title this term.
"Yes," Tebas responded, asked if Atleti were to be considered favourites. "Real Madrid and Barcelona are still there.
"I think other teams like Real Sociedad, Villarreal and Sevilla too. It's all more evenly matched. Whenever the big teams struggle to win it's said that there's a crisis. But they wanted more equality, and there's definitely that now."
