Premier League under 'pressure' to accept 5 substitutions
As per The Times, a very reliable source, five substitutions is set to be made a permanent rule change in football.
The idea was first floated back in May last year when the Premier League and other competitions restarted after the pandemic stopped the sport.
The Premier League decided against the rule last season and this season, while the Champions League allowed it.
As per the report, the idea was proposed at the International FA Board panel meeting today and was strongly supported.
Domestic leagues will have a say of their own to bring the rule to their league. However, there will be 'pressure' on the Premier League to accept the changes as most other leagues will likely accept the new rule.
For a big club like Chelsea, this rule change would be beneficial. The Blues have great depth in their squad and this would enable more players to get playing time.
