Lionel Messi slams referee in Argentina game vs Peru
A goal from Lautaro Martinez helped Argentina beat Peru 1-0 in a World Cup qualifier but it appears Lionel Messi wasn't too pleased with the Brazilian referee in charge.
After the game, Messi wrote on Instagram: "Difficult match, difficult to play. A lot of wind, they were playing deep, leaving little space for us.
"The referee always does this when he referees us, maybe he does it on purpose. But well, 3 important points and we’re close to our objective."
It's unclear what exactly the PSG superstar is referring to but the match official did not give Argentina a penalty after Martinez was stepped on. And he gave a penalty to Peru instead, which they failed to convert from the spot.
