'I never thought I'd get this far': Jorginho on Ballon d'Or nomination
Jorginho is one of the contenders to win this year's Ballon d'Or award. The midfielder had a strong campaign with Chelsea as the Blues won the Champions League; he then helped Italy to win the Euro 2020 a couple of months later.
He told Sky Sports: "It would be a dream, who has never dreamt about it? If you stop dreaming, it makes no sense to play football.
"As a child, I never thought I’d get this far, but I dreamed and everything that happened was done to pursue my dream as a child.
"I am happy to make my family proud. And another dream could come true in the winter of 2022."
Earlier, Jorginho also said that while he would like to win the award, he's not focusing too much on it.
The voting for the award has been closed and the winner has been decided. While the official ceremony will take place in December, a leaked screenshot of the final rankings has been doing the rounds on social media.
