'He has no rivals': Suarez explain why Messi is Ballon d'Or favourite

Both Messi and Suarez enjoyed a good relationship at Barcelona before moving elsewhere to continue their football life and with Ballon dOr close Suarez has back his friend to win the award.

"I think Leo [Messi] deserves to be Ballon d'Or because he has had a spectacular year on a personal level," former Barcelona forward Luis Suarez told Olé, as quoted by RMC Sport.

"Even though he only won the Spanish Cup with Barcelona, he was crowned the top scorer in La Liga.

"He won the Copa America, becoming the top scorer and the best passer.

"It’s a trophy he deserves for what he won as a player and because it’s always difficult to maintain such a level season after season for so long. It’s something almost impossible.

"He has no rivals."

Messi is well-positioned to receive his seventh Ballon d'Or this year despite a relatively long adaptation to PSG.

He is challenged by Lewandowski, Ronaldo, Salah, Donnarumma, Jorginho and several other players.
