Eagles seek prayers luck ahead CAR rematch on Sunday
After what some have dubbed shambolic performance against lowly rated the Central African Republic in a two-legged World cup qualifiers Thursday, Super Eagles have gone spiritual asking for prayers and luck as ahead of the return leg on Sunday.
The Eagles who hit the Teslim Balogun Stadium in jubilant prior to the match but left moody following a lone goal defeat made the prayer request just before touch down in Douala, Cameroon.
“DOUALA IN A BIT! Wish us luck” the team dished out.
It was the expression of surprises galore among most fans following the poor result against CAR. Most fans who were approached by Sportinglife. ng to have their views on the return leg expectation said they prefer to wait and see as the team has become quite unpredictable.
“I don’t predict Eagles match and I don’t even bet about it because for a while now the team has become unpredictable they play well today the next day they hit you below the belt, imagine losing to CAR in Lagos, very funny,” said Debo one of the fans who reacted Saturday.
Wild Beasts of Central African Republic are 124 on FIFA ranking 90 places below Super Eagles who are currently on 34. Many however say ranking no longer counts as records abound with highly-rated teams handed shocking defeats by so-called minnows.
Aside from CAR versus Nigeria tie some other clashes scheduled for Sunday include Kenya versus Mali, Zambia versus Equatorial Guinea and Uganda versus Rwanda.
Cranes of Uganda ran away with a lone goal victory in Rwanda and will be hoping to further consolidate in front of their home supporters.
