Barca president Joan Laporta wants Xavi as next coach
Barcelona president Joan Laporta favours former club midfielder Xavi to return to succeed the sacked Ronald Koeman.
After Rayo Vallecano's victory over Barca last night Barcelona relieved coach Koeman of his duty as club manager.
Sport says Laporta has settled on Al Sadd coach Xavi as the Dutchman's replacement.
It's suggested Xavi's contract with the Qataris, signed only earlier this year, carries a knockdown €1m buyout clause.
Negotiations are already underway, with Xavi reaching an agreement with Laporta on his backroom staff, with brother Óscar, Sergio Alegre as assistant and fitness coach Iván Torres to all follow him should they find agreement.
