Ancelotti name best formation for current Real Madrid squad
In the press conference ahead of the match against Shakhtar Donetsk, Carlo Ancelotti was asked to comment on the playing style he wants to instil at Real Madrid.
"If we haven't shown a clear identity, something happened. At times, in the matches, we were bad. We have tried to defend with a 4-4-2, like against Espanyol, and it has not gone well," the coach answered.
"The idea I have now is very clear. This team has to play 4-3-3. It is the ideal system for this squad. There are games that the team can play without a pure winger, but I think it [4-3-3] is the best system for this squad."
Ancelotti tried several formations at the start of the season, and it's true that not all of them proved equally fitting.
In total, Real Madrid have played 10 matches this term, winning six, losing two and drawing two.
