Man United make Declan Rice 'top priority' for next summer

Manchester United have identified Declan Rice as a 'top priority' target for next summer despite his £100 million price tag, reports The Independent.

As per sources within the club, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen on signing a defensive midfielder to complete his squad overhaul.

The Red Devils have been linked with Rice for quite some time but West Ham's exorbitant asking price scuppered hopes of a transfer in the recent window.

However, it's unclear if the Hammers will bring their price down. Considering the English midfielder's contract has the option to extend till 2025, West Ham won't let him leave for cheap.

Rice has played five games for his club already this season and Solskjaer will get a chance to monitor him up close when the two teams meet this Sunday.

The Independent adds that Rice himself is keen on an Old Trafford move. The 22-year-old already shares a close friendship with England teammates Jesse Lingard, Luke Shaw and Harry Maguire, to name a few.
