"We cannot accept this has been put on the front page of a newspaper like L’Equipe," PSG sporting director Leonardo told RMC Sport about a recent report about Messi's salary.

"This is unacceptable. It's totally false. I wanted to tell you.

"I think it was a lack of respect and we didn't like it. I don't understand the timing. This is very far from the truth.

"The length of the contract is two years. There is no option, mandatory or not. It’s wrong, it’s not [true] and we didn’t like it."

The report stated that Messi signed a 3-year deal with PSG. It also claimed the Argentine gets a €30m-per-year salary.

L'Equipe also reported that Leo would get €20m if he stays at the club until 2024: €10m in 2023 and €10m in 2024.

'Can't hide it': PSG director Leonardo reveals how exactly Messi move happened

"I can't hide the fact that we had contacted him [Messi] before," PSG director Leonardo has told the media, as per Marca.

"We spoke to him, but after January, when he was six months away from the end of his contract. We never contacted him before January.

"His idea was always to stay at Barca. After his exit was announced, we contacted him again," he added.
