Koeman explains what Puig should do to play more often

A lot has been said about Ronald Koeman's unwillingness to give game time to Riqui Puig.

The manager has insisted the door is wide open for the midfielder to win a first-team spot at Barcelona.

"Puig? He has to improve in many aspects of the game," Koeman said at a press conference.

"But the other day he warmed up and had the chance to enter the game. In the end I had to take off Alba.

"He has to work to gain minutes and improve his game like any young player."

Alba limped off the pitch against Bayern Munich with an injury. The score was 2-0 when he was taken off, so Koeman wanted to introduce Puig in a game that had pretty much been lost at that time.

Riqui has not played a single minute this season.
