David Moyes speaks out on West Ham's failed pursuit of Jesse Lingard

In an interview quoted by Eurosport, David Moyes said: "Ole [Gunnar Solskjaer] made it clear to me quite early in the transfer window that he wanted to keep him [Jesse Lingard].

"I knew pretty early in the transfer window that he was staying at Manchester United."

Lingard spent the second half of 2019/20 on loan with the Hammers, scoring nine goals and assisting four times. Since he returned to Old Trafford, he was expected to return permanently.

Despite rumours of a transfer, it appears Lingard does have a future at the club.

The Englishman impressed in pre-season and has already scored his first Premier League goal in 2021/22. He made an error in the 2-1 loss to Young Boys but for the most part, the 28-year-old has shown the desire to do better.

However, Jesse's contract will run out at the end of the season.
