David Alaba explains why he kissed Real Madrid crest
David Alaba caused a stir when he kissed the Real Madrid crest during his unveiling at the Bernabeu.
Speaking about the incident to the Bayern Insider podcast, Alaba said: "It doesn't mean that I no longer love Bayern. It was just a very special day for me.
"It was the beginning of a new stage, but I didn't want to provoke the Bayern fans at all. I spent thirteen wonderful years there.
“I will always be grateful to the fans and the club for giving me the opportunity to develop as a person and a player. Munich became my second home. "I did not want to hurt anyone’s feelings.
"Madrid cannot be compared to Munich. It has become my second home and I will always keep it in my heart,” Alaba added.
Alaba spent 13 years at Bayern Munich before swapping the red jersey for white in a free transfer to Real Madrid.
The Austrian has slotted in perfectly in Real Madrid's rearguard. He's already played 6 games, delivering 2 assists.
