Frank Lampard Set To Takeover England Under-21 Job
Former Chelsea boss, Frank Lampard, has been shortlisted among the names considered as a potential candidate to replace England Under-21s coach, Aidy Boothroyd.
Boothroyd is expected to leave his role when his contract expires this summer, and according to MailOnline, the English FA is considering its options.
The Young Lions are on the brink of elimination at the ongoing European Under-21 Championship after they were defeated 2-0 against Portugal last Sunday.
They currently sit on the bottom position in Group D with zero points from two games.
Meanwhile, Lampard has huge admirers within the FA for the work he has done during his time at Derby County and Chelsea, respectively.
The 42-year-old is currently out of work after he was sacked by Chelsea at the end of January 2021.
The Chelsea legend was replaced by Thomas Tuchel at Stamford Bridge.
Other coaches on the shortlist for England Under-21s job include Paul Simpson, whose England Under-20 side won the World Cup in 2017 and Steve Cooper, who guided England Under-17s to victory at the World Cup in 2017.
