Barca Interim Board To Investigate Messi Contract Leaks

Barcelona interim board has met at the Camp Nou offices in order to conduct an investigation into the leaks of Lionel Messi’s contract, according to COPE.

Spanish newspaper El Mundo published the news last week, revealing the figures behind the Argentine superstar’s latest deal with Barcelona.

The report highlights that the meeting is already underway in order to approve the internal investigation into the matter.

Compliance officer Miereia Simona has taken over proceedings with the strict guidelines of keeping all dealings highly confidential.

El Mundo had called Messi’s contract as ‘pharaonic’ and claimed that it was the major reason for Barcelona’s current financial crisis that sees them in a debt of 1.173 billion euros.

The deal, which is set to expire on the 30th of June, will reportedly net the Barça superstar upwards of 555 million euros.

Barcelona themselves, released a statement saying they had nothing to do with the leaks and are in full support of the club captain.

They have vowed to identify whoever is behind the leaks and stated that the party in question cannot continue at Barcelona.

GoalBall had previously reported that only five people: president at the time Josep Maria Bartomeu, Oscar Grau, Jordi Mestre and of course Messi, had access to the document.

Hence, the possibility of the leak being internal is extremely high.
