Why Man Utd Chiefs Have Dumped Jadon Sancho For Erling Haaland
In the last transfer window, Manchester United tried to sign Jadon Sancho after a stunning season in the Bundesliga.
That deal ultimately failed with Borussia Dortmund demanding £109m for the Englishman’s services.
But the Red Devils are now prepared to move on from the 20-year-old and are eyeing his club teammate instead.
According to the Mirror, Haaland will be the top transfer target this summer with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer a huge fan of the striker.
The Norweigan worked with the 20-year-old at Molde and tried to sign him while at RB Salzburg but he chose Dortmund instead.
The youngster has been in tremendous form over 2020, scoring 23 times in the Bundesliga in as many appearances.
The Leeds-born starlet has six in four Champions League appearances and the Red Devils are desperate for his firepower up front.
They also believe that a £70m release clause will come into effect in the summer, meaning they can bypass any negotiations with Dortmund.
But if Old Trafford officials thought Borussia were a problem, they would still have to negotiate with Haaland’s troublesome agent – Mino Raiola.
In fact, United officials believe that any talks with Raiola would be relatively simple and is a gamble Solskjaer is willing to go through with.
Meanwhile, the Norweigan has admitted he wants additions in the January transfer window.
